Future outlook for lead and lead batteries
Recent domestic policy developments and their implications for China’s lead industry

The presentation includes a review of the recent development of lead and lead-acid battery industries in the world, it then moves on to list a myriad of policies, regulations and standards that affect the lead and lead-acid battery sectors in China. Detailed observations will be made on “Producer Responsibility Extension Scheme”, “Action plan on pollution control of waste lead batteries”, “Mandatory national standard for “Electric Bicycle Safety Technical Specifications” and “Cascade Utilization of Used Motive Battery by China Tower” among the 21 listed regulations, standards and policies. Specific market impacts and implications with the implementation of such will be analyzed. The Study Group makes two forecasts each year and the presentation will come to a conclusion with a recent forecast of lead mining, refining and lead metal usage by the ILZSG in May 2019.
Mr. Jianbin Meng is the Director of Economics and Environment for both the International Lead And Zinc Study Group and the International Nickel Study Group, which are intergovernmental organizations established within the UN system. With over 20 years of experience in metal and mining industry, Mr. Meng initiated China Metallurgical Newsletter in 2000 which was then the only English publication for China´s metallurgical industry.
