Travel & accommodation
Madrid is serviced by most leading airlines operating direct flights from major cities throughout Europe and the rest of the world. There is one airport in the city Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (25 minutes to the city centre by taxi) and standard fares apply to all Madrid taxi drivers. The Airport has Metro stations in Terminal T2 and the newer Terminal T4. Trains leave every 5 minutes from 6.00am to 2.00am. Line 8 goes straight to the Nuevos Ministerios Metro station in the centre of Madrid, with a journey time of just 12 minutes.
As the capital of Spain, Madrid is a popular destination for tourists. As a result there is always high demand for accommodation and delegates are therefore strongly recommended to make flight and hotel reservations well in advance.

June is a great time to see everything Madrid has to offer. You can expect an average temperature of 21°C, which reaches an average high of 29°C, before falling to a still rather warm low of 13°C during the evenings.
Delegates who need a formal invitation letter in order to obtain a visa to attend Pb2019 are advised to contact the Conference Secretariat as soon as possible. To find out if you need a visa, there is a useful website at https://www.madridcity.com/v/visa-requirements/. Asking for such a letter is not a commitment to attend, but can speed up visa applications.
Special room rates, inclusive of breakfast, have been arranged at the Meliá Madrid Princesa for the nights 17, 18, 19, 20, June 2019. 10% tax is not included in this rate and will be added at check out. The hotel is pleased to extend the special room rates for up to three days before and/or after Pb2019 subject to availability – see below.
